What is Obsidian One

Obsidian One is a dark electronic music project fusing electro-industrial with the intensity and atmosphere of black and death metal. Alongside its harsher works, it also explores ambient soundscapes that are lighter and more meditative. Emerging from a period of shadow work and inner exploration, Obsidian One is driven by a love of music and creative expression. Since its inception in 2024, it has grown into an extensive body of work spanning full-length releases, EPs, and a rhythmic noise compilation.

Creation Process

I do not use AI to generate songs or compositions. All my music is created using Renoise, a tracker-based digital audio workstation (DAW) that differs fundamentally from the more common, visually oriented DAWs like FL Studio. Instead of relying on a graphical timeline and mouse-driven interface, Renoise uses a pattern editor where musical notes and effects are entered via a grid using the keyboard. This approach emphasizes precision, speed, and control, making it ideal for my style of electronic and industrial music.

Sample Sources

The samples used to create my music are royalty-free, sourced from various professional and free sites, including sample packs and individual downloads. I also use custom samples that are licensed exclusively to me. There's nothing overly technical about my approach. I simply enjoy making music from a variety of sounds, and dedicate long hours to it — to creating and refining the beats and textures, experimenting with samples and effects, and layering everything until it feels right. Each track is arranged, structured, and shaped by me.

Musical Influences

Music plays an important role in my life, and I enjoy a variety of genres, including black metal, death metal, electro-industrial, dungeon synth, ambient, psychedelic rock, and experimental. A Flame to Walk By

Obsidian One is more than music. It's about giving voice to the shadow. The project emerged from a period of inner exploration, but ultimately it is driven by a love of music and creative expression. Name Your Price

Aside from Dark Sun, all albums are available on Bandcamp as free downloads. This "name your price" setting allows you to enter any amount, including 0, and the album will be sent to your email address instantly. Obsidian One is a passion project, and it's more important to me to reach a wider audience. That said, it means a lot when someone supports my work, even with something as small as $1, as it motivates me to keep creating. (For Dark Sun, I set a $1 minimum so that you can conveniently download the full discography all at once, since Bandcamp requires at least one release with a minimum price to set up the discography.)
